Year of Asking

I HATE asking for things.

OK, that’s not entirely true but that’s the story that I’ve been telling myself for decades now. It seems that my inner 2 year old’s declaration that “I CAN DO IT MYSELF!’ never quite settled down in my system however, it’s accompanied by this feeling of ‘Will someone please just do it for me?’

Yeah, I’d be confused too…

& I’m sure the Universe was confused and never able to fully deliver on my desires. See, when I was 9 years old, I made a decision to never ask anyone for anything ever again because I never get anything I really want, so what’s the point in even asking?!!

9 year old me was fed up! She’d had enough of BEGGING her own mother for something as simple as full-time space in her life so she gave up on asking … for anything. ever.

23 years later, I met a man who changed all of that. He opened me up to desire again. He was such a gift to my life that I found myself saying things like, “I can’t wait for us to start our lives together” and “I can’t wait until you’re here”.

Who was this person?! I don’t desire things. I certainly don’t desire things that involve other people … but I did. That was the gift that he brought me; he opened me up to desire again.

… but I’m still not good at asking for things, unless it’s dire and I’m fairly certain the person will say yes.

So, I set out to change this.

On Dec. 7, 2016, I decided that every day for a year I would ask someone for something. Since this post is going up 7 months later, you can imagine the resistance I had to this, even while I was SUPER excited about doing it. I knew the expansion it would create for me and for the world, really.

For the past 7 months, I’ve been asking … on a small scale, of the people in my life and now, I’m ready to ask the world because I’m ready to receive more.

What follows will be both a list of the things I’m asking for as well as the wisdom I’m gaining from this experience (and as always, reasons to giggle). Your contributions are greatly appreciated as is your encouragement.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

~ Matthew 7:7-8

I’m ready for more doors to be opened so I’m asking!

Thank you for being here. Thank you for being apart of this adventure with me. Thank you for seeing me.
